The Inherent Limitations of Gender-Based Violence to the Exclusion of LGBTIQ: A Guide for Social Workers

Drawing from the queer theory, this article strives to understand scourge of gender-based violence against members homosexual community through a literature review. There is gap in understanding LGBTIQ. Additionally, there dearth research on GBV within social work fraternity despite profession’s mandate protect vulnerable groups. A comprehensive hate crime critically important current times where incidents based one’s gender are rise South Africa. Social workers privileged position educate communities about these appalling crimes and inform inclusive policies curb pandemic community.
